Autumn in New York

“I wanted to create a Cosmopolitan-adjacent cocktail with an unmistakable autumn accent. (The Cosmo itself being a very underrated holiday cocktail with loads of citrus and cranberry.) Gin and apple brandy have long been a favorite pairing of mine—the classic Pink Lady is an all-timer— and here they click into place: the gin keeps things brisk, the apple brandy adds orchard warmth, and cranberry liqueur threads a tart, jewel-toned line through the middle. Cointreau lifts the fruit, lemon snaps everything into focus, and a dash of Angostura ties it together with a whisper of baking spice. It drinks like a NYC sidewalk after the first cold snap—crisp, vivid, and a little romantic.” —TB

1 ounce London dry gin
½ ounce Laird’s apple brandy
½ ounce Clear Creek cranberry liqueur
½ ounce Cointreau

¾ ounce fresh lemon juice
1 dash Angostura nitters

Garnish: 1 orange twist

Shake all the ingredients with ice, then double strain into a chilled coupe. Garnish with the orange twist.
