GDT Daiquiris
The “snaquiri”—a shot-size daiquiri meant to be consumed in a gulp or two—has long been a secret handshake of the bartending community, and at our bars it’s a pre-shift staff drink born out of a nightly grudge match between two bartenders vying to make the best daiquiri. While others in the industry refer to this communal round as a DTO (daiquiri time out), ours was christened “GDT” (gangster daiquiri time) in the early days of Death & Co NYC.
Though you can serve mini daiquiris out of a coupe, our Fancy Fizz Glass has always been our preferred vessel for this nightly ritual.
GDT Daiquiris
Serves 4
8 ounces white rum
4 ounces fresh lime juice
2 ounces Cane Sugar Syrup (see Note)
Shake all the ingredients with ice, then strain into 4 Fancy Fizz Glasses. No garnish.
Note: To make Cane Sugar Syrup, combine 2 parts unbleached cane sugar with 1 part water in a blender and blend until the sugar has dissolved.
