Almond thief

A whiskey daisy in a smoking jacket: two rich, oily pot-still whiskeys, one Irish and one Scottish, dressed with apricot, biscotti liqueur, and orgeat—refreshing in format, fireside in effect. Sam's naming rule: nothing too flowery, just evocative enough to make you want to know more. He just liked how it sounded, and that was reason enough.

  • 1 ounce Bowmore 12-year scotch
  • 1 ounce Redbreast 12-year Irish whiskey
  • 2 teaspoons Faretti Biscotti liqueur
  • 1 teaspoon Rothman & Winter apricot liqueur
  • ¾ ounce fresh lemon juice
  • ½ ounce House Orgeat

Shake all the ingredients with ice, then strain into a double old-fashioned glass over ice cubes. No garnish.
