Ghost Note

Call it an old-fashioned, a Fancy Free, or a scotch-and-amaretto Godfather; Alexander accepts all three. White chocolate liqueur, a pepperminty Greenpoint amaro, and PX sherry's stewed fruit sit on the reliable split base of Jamaican rum and single malt. Fourteen years of house cocktails came before him, he notes—the hard part was not copying and pasting.

  • 1 ounce Appleton Estate Reserve 8-year Jamaican rum
  • ¾ ounce Bowmore 12-year single malt scotch
  • ¼ ounce Forthave Marseille amaro
  • ¼ ounce Lustau Pedro Ximénez sherry
  • 1 teaspoon Marie Brizard white crème de cacao

Stir all the ingredients over ice, then strain into a single old-fashioned glass over 1 large ice cube. Express the orange twist over the drink, then place it in the drink.
