Kingston Negroni

The Negroni is one of those perfect templates: equal parts spirit, vermouth, and amaro, stirred and served with nothing more than an orange twist. With the Kingston Negroni, Death & Co alum Joaquin Simó swapped gin for funky Jamaican rum, unlocking a whole new dimension of the drink. Smith & Cross brings high-toned esters, spice, and tropical fruit to the mix, which collide beautifully with the richness of Antica Formula and the bitter bite of Campari. The result is familiar yet electrifying—a modern classic that shows just how far a simple substitution can take you.

1 ounce Smith & Cross rum
1 ounce Carpano Antica Formula vermouth
1 ounce Campari
Garnish: 1 orange twist

Stir all the ingredients with ice, then strain into a double old-fashioned glass over 1 large ice cube. Garnish with the orange twist.
