Sidecar
The Sidecar is a shining example of balance, simplicity, and enduring style. Born in Europe around 1920, it shares DNA with the Daisy family of cocktails—spirit, citrus, and liqueur—but refines that formula with a sense of precision that’s made it a barroom staple for a century. Our take stays close to the classic structure, using cognac as a base, a touch of simple syrup to round out the sharpness, and a generous pour of Cointreau to accentuate the drink’s vibrant citrus profile. It’s elegant, bracing, and incredibly satisfying—proof that a three-ingredient cocktail (plus one small tweak) can still feel transcendent.
Sidecar
1½ ounces cognac
1 ounce Cointreau
¾ ounce fresh lemon juice
1 teaspoon simple syrup
Garnish: 1 orange twist
Shake all the ingredients with ice, then double strain into a chilled coupe. Express the orange twist over the drink, then place it into the drink.
