Party Monster

"The Party Monster is a fun tiki cocktail inspired by the mango lassi, one of my favorite drinks. I aimed to create a refreshing cocktail with a rich, creamy texture. I chose reposado tequila as the base to achieve a dessert-like flavor profile. To replicate the yogurt-like quality of a traditional lassi, I added mango puree and Calpico, a tangy Japanese drink similar to buttermilk. Finally, I finished the drink with lime juice, aquavit, and cardamom bitters, resulting in a floral and piney flavor with strong notes of mango and caraway." —JR

1¾ ounces Don Fulano reposado tequila
¼ ounce Krogstad Aquavit
¾ ounce fresh lime juice
½ ounce Calpico Concentrate (available at Asian markets and online)
½ ounce mango puree (we use Perfect Puree brand, or you can make your own)
½ ounce orgeat
5 drops Scrappy's Cardamom Bitters
Garnish: 1 orchid (optional)


Shake all the ingredients with ice, then strain into a cocktail mug or tulip glass. Fill the glass with crushed ice and garnish with the orchid, if using.
